Philadelphia Zoo Internship

*Please remind your students about the upcoming intern information session on Saturday, November 11 at **2pm.** Thanks!*

It is that time of year again, and we at the Zoo are looking forward to working with your students!
If you have students that are interested in careers with animals, a Philadelphia Zoo internship is a "should" experience.
If you have students that are interested in a career at a zoo or aquarium, a Philadelphia Zoo internship is a "must" experience.
The Philadelphia Zoo, America's first zoo, is dedicated to its mission of conservation, science, education and recreation. Our core purpose is to advance discovery, understanding and stewardship of the natural world through compelling exhibition and interpretation of living plants and animals.
One of the ways the Philadelphia Zoo fulfills its mission is through our internship program. Zoo staff train tomorrow's conservation leaders to care for animals and educate the public about their role in protecting our natural world.
On *Saturdays, November 11, January 20 and March 3 at **2pm** *the Philadelphia Zoo invites biology, animal science, zoo science, environmental science, zoology, environmental education and museum education students to the Zoo to meet Zoo staff to discuss internship opportunities. Students will have a chance to hear from Zoo staff that supervise interns, ask questions about the internships and take tours of the internship areas that involve animal care.
Please advertise this information on your career service websites and event calendars. I would also greatly appreciate you forwarding this information to professors and department chairs of the aforementioned disciplines. I have attached descriptions of our animal care related internships. Please pass on this information to interested parties.
Students can email me directly at malone.maureen@phillyzoo.org <mailto:malone.maureen@phillyzoo.org> to sign up to attend an information session. I will then provide students with transportation, parking and location information.
If you would like a flyer about the information session or have another format that you would like me to send this information, please let me know.
Thank you for your attention to this request,

Many of you received an announcement for Student Workers to assist with the 2007 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tenn. this Jan. 31- Feb. 3, 2007. I just wanted to remind you that the applications are due next Friday, November 17. Attached is the application form and job description, or you can visit http://www.beefusa.org/NEWS2007STUDENTWORKERANNOUNCEMENT28184.aspx

Working at the Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show is a great opportunity for students to network with beef industry leaders, state affiliate and beef council staff and allied industry representatives as well as NCBA staff. NCBA will select between 10-15 students to help us with various activities through out the week in Nashville. We will pick up the student’s registration fee, lodging and most meals. The students are only responsible for their transportation to Nashville and their spending money during the week. Please contact Shenoa French, sfrench@beef.org or me, if you have any questions about the student worker positions.
Again this year, there is a student rate available to attend the convention if you would like to bring a student group to the meeting. But, this year, we are pleased to offer a FREE day in the Trade Show on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9:00am – 2:00 pm. A special feature on Saturday is our First Annual Career Fair to be held in the Trade Show. For information on the Career Fair, contact Erica Spiegle at espiegle@beef.org . (Erica also coordinates our student intern positions in Washington, DC).
For information and to register for the convention, visit www.beefusa.org
Thank you for your help in getting the word out about our student activities and opportunities at the 2007 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. I hope to see you in Nashville! Again, please let me know if you have any questions.
