Animal Science Club Minutes 8/26/07

I. Officers were introduced to the club.

II. September events were reviewed. If you have any questions about them, please email me.
a. Saturday, 9/8: Car Wash 9am-3pm at Newark Car Wash on Elkton
b. Thursday, 8/13: Ag Fall Social 6-9pm in a Rodney Room
c. Sunday, 8/16: Newark Community Day 10am-5pm
d. Wednesday, 8/19: Trip to Kilby Cream
e. Saturday, 8/22: Cowtown Rodeo
f. Wednesday, 8/26: NC State Speaker
g. Saturday, 10/6: Ag Carnival around 10am-3pm

III. Next week we will be voting on and electing committee chair people. The following positions are available for any member to run for:
a. Pre-Vet: Informs the club about the field of veterinary medicine. This includes bringing in speakers such as vets and vet-students, and trips to veterinary hospitals.
b. Social: Increasing the social bonds of club members through activities such as group dinners and other fun events. Also responsible for coming up with ice-breaker ideas for each meeting.
c. Livestock: Informing students about the livestock industry through speakers and field trips to various farms in the area.
d. Service: Responsible for organizing and planning all service events and activities encouraging community involvement. The committee has helped raise money for organizations such as AgrAbility and the Humane Society.

IV. Two internships are available to interested students:
a. Kraft Foods
b. Disney Animal Nutrition Center Diet Prep & Research Professional Intern
I will send out additional information on these internships via email on a later note.

V. We then held our ice cream social and learned a bit about each one other

VI. Our next meeting will be held next week on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:30pm. It will be in the same room, 111 Memorial Hall. Hope to see you there!

Our first meeting of the year will be held the Wednesday after, which is August 29th. I will send out an e-mail with the time and location beforehand to everyone.
