Animal Science Club Minutes 9/16/09

I. Community Day
Community Day is this Sunday, the 20th. Thanks to those of you who signed up – you should receive an email before Sunday, letting you know that you signed up and for which shift(s).

II. Cowtown Rodeo
We will meet in Lot 19 at 5 pm this Saturday (19th). Bring $10 with you. If you signed up, you should receive an email.

III. Kilby Cream
September 30th instead of regular meeting – Sign ups will continue next week. We will get a tour of the dairy farm and bring some money if you want ice cream at their parlor! We will be meeting in lot 19 at 5:15 pm on the 30th.

IV. Ag Carnival
It is on October 10th (Saturday) from 10 am-2 pm (at Webb farm). Sign-ups will start next week (the 23rd). The Ag clubs will all get together for some friendly competition in “day in the life of a farmer”, 3 legged race, dizzy bat, and more. We will also host the Agribility Auction (organized by the Social Committee).

VI. Committee Meetings
Committee meeting ideas:
Social – haunted house, long sleeve t-shirt idea: grey shirt with purple writing
Service – Ag Carnival Agribility Auction, Steve Cook’s farm, Buddies for Life
Fundraising – cow naming (possibly at Ag Carnival), pumpkin sale, Amazon gift wrap
Livestock – long sleeve t-shirt idea: animals with beakers (scientific animals), letters on front and on sleeve
Pre-vet – New Bolton Center trip, vet practice in Oxford, PA, UPenn vet panel



VII. Announcements
o Garden for the Community – all produce grown on our campus will go to the Delaware Food Bank. MANNRS club is volunteering on the 26th – email Kishana if you would like to help or have any questions: kishana@udel.edu
o AlphaZeta, the Ag co-ed fraternity-sorority, has 2 interest meetings coming up:
- September 22nd (Tuesday) at Klondike Kate’s at 6 pm
- September 23rd (Wednesday) at Grotto’s at 6 pm
*AZ requires that you be in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the minimum GPA is 3.0.
o Reminder: Amanda is now collecting dues ($15 for new members, $10 for returning).
